Leutasch summer highlights
EXPERIENCES FOR 4 NIGHTS
Sometimes a long holiday just isn't possible. Treat yourself to a short but eventful break! With tips from host Christian Wandl, you can discover Leutasch in all its facets, from mysterious to sporty to romantic.
Mountains with dreamlike views, a gorge with water mist in the twilight, lakes with bathing temperatures: Leutasch offers you the full programme during your short break. With these four top tips, you will gain an unforgettable impression of one of the most diverse holiday regions in Tyrol. Of course, you can change the order of these four experiences depending on the weather, your mood and your preferences.
High up to the Wettersteinhütte
In Leutasch, you don't have to climb countless metres to reach the most beautiful viewpoints. The Wettersteinhütte at 1,717 m above sea level can be reached from Leutasch on a well-maintained hiking trail in about an hour and a half. From mid-May to early November, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the valley and the surrounding mountains from the sun terrace while savouring the delicious Kasnockerl, made according to the hut's own secret recipe. The more athletic can continue hiking to the Gehrenspitze or Rossberg. So, plan your first day of your short break in Leutasch with a leisurely hike and/or summit tour!
Deep down into the Geisterklamm gorge
On warm summer days, a hike in the Leutaschklamm gorge is a refreshing and particularly mystical experience. Three different paths or trails offer deep insights into the interior of the Alps. Over many millennia, the water of the Ache river has cut deep into the Wetterstein limestone. In the light streaming in from above, amid the rushing white water and green pools, you might even spot a goblin or water spirit – who knows? The impressive finale is undoubtedly the 23-metre-high waterfall, from which a cool veil of water descends onto heated summer faces.
Take a dip in Lake Möser
A swimming lake at 1,295 metres above sea level? Yes, why not! Lake Möser, an idyllically situated moor lake, can be reached on foot from the car park in no time at all. A dip in the lake water, which is up to 25 °C warm, invigorates all the senses, and sunbathing afterwards warms the whole body pleasantly. Ancient trees provide welcome shade, and you are sure to find a spot on the benches around the lake to enjoy nature in all its beauty. Tip for families with children: at Lake Möser, little adventurers can let off steam to their heart's content in the 1,500 m² playground!
Completely in love with the romantic Gaistal valley
For those newly in love and anyone looking for a particularly romantic spot, Christian Wandl recommends a trip to the Gaistal valley. Follow in the footsteps of the poet Ludwig Ganghofer as you hike through the idyllic high valley, which enchants visitors with its unspoilt and unique mountain nature. In the home of chamois, deer and eagles, you can completely surrender to the romance of the mountains – and why not? This contrast to the asphalt and concrete of the cities is infinitely soothing.
