Strong partners – Leutascherhof suppliers
ORGANIC FOOD FROM TYROL AND AUSTRIA
Transparency is key at the BIO Hotel Leutascherhof: all food used can be traced back to its origin. All suppliers are subject to the strict criteria of independent organic inspection bodies. When it comes to origin, hotelier Christian Wandl believes in the principle of short distances. Anything that can be sourced organically in Leutasch is the preferred choice.
‘Strong partners are essential for our BIO Hotel. Whether it's meat, vegetables, tea or eggs – only when suppliers reliably deliver excellent organic products can everything run smoothly in our kitchen and restaurant,’ explains Christian Wandl, who is particularly proud of the long-standing cooperation with trusted partners. His credo: ‘Trust and verifiable organic control create a solid foundation for our cooperation!’
Direct marketers and full-range suppliers
‘The structure of our suppliers couldn't be more diverse: in Leutasch and Tyrol, we source some products from small direct marketers, while other products are supplied by organic wholesalers,’ says Christian Wandl. It's clear that not all products come from the immediate vicinity, because ‘we would fail miserably when it comes to wine!’ Get to know the Leutascherhof suppliers – here is an overview!
Bruggerhof
Veal, young beef and beef from Leutasch
The Larch family runs an organic farm in Unterkirchen at 1,039 metres above sea level, where cattle and their calves feel right at home. Some of the animals spend the summer on the Gaistal/Rotmoosalm. Fresh air, clean water and grass with lots of aromatic herbs allow the cattle to grow and thrive. It is not until September that the summer visitors are collected on foot and led to the stable in the valley.
Alexander Schaber
Chicken meat from Obsteig in Tyrol
At the age of twelve, Alexander already owned five hens; his passion for agriculture began in childhood. When he took over his grandparents' farm on the Mieminger Plateau, organic poultry moved in. Today, chickens, turkeys and ducks cluck and quack on his farm, all of which are raised and kept according to organic guidelines. For his poultry, the motto on the farm surrounded by meadows is: ‘Here I am a chicken, here I can be one!’
Biometzgerei Juffinger
Meat and sausage products from Thiersee
Anton Juffinger Sr. was one of Tyrol's first organic farmers and a founding member of BIO AUSTRIA Tirol. His son Anton Jr., a farmer, master butcher and certified meat sommelier, began preparing bacon and sausages on his parents' farm, soon followed by the city butcher's shop in Kufstein. The Juffinger cattle are ‘alpine pastured’ in the summer, slaughtered and processed in their own butcher's shop. The genuine Tyrolean organic specialities are delivered directly to the Leutascherhof.
The Heis family
Leutascher organic eggs from Puitbach
Let's get out there: the Heis family's chickens enjoy their daily run with a magnificent view of the mountains! Fresh air, lush meadows and the best organic feed make every chicken cluck with delight. And everything else is also very exclusive: Heisen's chickens lay their eggs in straw-strewn laying nests, and outside, each chicken has a whole ten square metres of open space to scratch and walk around. In winter, a covered winter garden with a scratching area ensures balanced, happy egg suppliers.
The Neuner family, Wirtseppelerhof
Tea, syrups and potatoes from Obern, Leutasch
At the end of a small side street, the Wirtseppelerhof is surrounded by meadows. Here, the silence, the mooing of cows and the clucking of chickens set the tone. The potatoes that grow at this altitude have a particularly fine aroma, and the herbs and plants that are processed into tea blends and syrups bring the taste of the mountains to the glass. These delicacies are available not only at the Leutascherhof, but also in the farm's own shop.
The Gapp family, Kastlehof
Butter from an organic farm in Obsteig
Anyone cycling on the Mieminger Plateau will pass the Kastlehof farm. And if you're lucky, you'll hear traditional music coming from inside and the mooing of contented cows in the free-range barn and on the surrounding meadows. The farm's own butter has the aroma of spicy mountain grass and hay – pure enjoyment, best served on fresh bread from the farm's own stone oven.
The Lutz family, Lumpererhof
Organic vegetables from Fritzens in Tyrol
The Lumpererhof farm has been documented as being in operation since the 14th century, making it one of the oldest farms in Fritzens. The historic estate has been organically farmed since 1991. The Lutz family attaches great importance to diverse crop rotation, gentle soil cultivation and organic fertilisation, because here they think sustainably – and in terms of generations. The ‘gsunde Gmias’ (healthy vegetables) are available in several farm shops, via home delivery and also at the BIO Hotel Leutascherhof.
Sonnentor
Herbs and spices from the Waldviertel region
What began in an old barn near Zwettl is now one of Austria's most successful organic companies. Johannes Gutmann, once ridiculed and now often envied, had a vision and continues to work on its consistent implementation to this day. A constant stream of new tea and spice blends, syrups, sweets and now also oils and bath products have helped organic products achieve a breakthrough in this segment too. Look forward to Sonnentor delicacies at the Leutascherhof!
Biohandel Hörsching
Vegetables from Upper Austria
More than 35 hectares of land are cultivated on our own organic farm. Cabbage and lettuce, fennel, leeks and pumpkins, courgettes and physalis grow on the wide, sun-drenched fields. Many other products such as fruit, citrus fruits and herbs are purchased from organic producers and delivered fresh to the Leutascherhof.
Biogast – Austria's organic wholesaler
Full-range supplier from Zwettl, Lower Austria
This retailer offers more than 14,000 items to choose from – all of which are certified organic, of course. From muesli to drugstore products, everything that is needed daily at the Leutascherhof is available here. More than 20 years of experience make Biogast a reliable partner for the catering and hotel industry in Austria.
Sepp Moser Winery
Wine, grape juice and apricot juice from Rohrendorf near Krems
One of the winegrowers who supplies the Leutascherhof with his high-quality grape juices is Sepp Moser. A descendant of the pioneer Dr Lenz Moser, who comes from a traditional winegrowing family, he has been committed to organic winegrowing according to strict Demeter criteria since 2006. Sepp Moser cultivates the grapes for his wines in Rohrendorf near Krems/Wachau and in Apetlon in Burgenland. Fruity grape juice and creamy golden-orange apricot juice complete the range.
